Let me start by saying, I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL COOK and you know I typically don’t have much time to cook. So anything made easy, I’m on it. Many of you may know me as the crockpot queen but I can also make a mean one pan meal. Right now during quarantine I am focusing a low carb, high protein meal plan (not a diet, lifestyle changes). I am cutting out most meat, although I treated myself to a little bacon, for this meal :) The Lord is still working on me. My favorite recipe inspiration site is Pinterest! I found this bomb, “Loaded Cauliflower Casserole Bake.” So I decided to make a Kroger run and pick up all the ingredients I needed. It’s really simple and most things you probably have in your refrigerator already. Ingredients all found at my local Kroger:

Where are my ladies that LOVE to shop!? <Raises Both Hands> Yes you are my people. I fell in love with fashion at a very young age. I like to blame my mother, we shared the house with 3 men, so we had to make up for it with shoes, bags and clothes. My mother has the best walk in closet that you could really live in. Rows of shoes, handbags and clothes that I envied over, until I was old enough to start wearing some pieces. Sadly, not her shoes. She wears a size 7-7.5 and I was cursed with size 9.5-10 feet - God works in mysterious ways.
Recently I was featured in Cincinnati Magazine in their style section. I was asked about my style and some of my shopping habits. I consider my style all things GIRL BOSS. It ranges from power suits to dresses. Make it Fashion but Make it Affordable Designer clothes don’t make it fashion, you do. I love mixing high and low pieces in my wardrobe. My favorite trend stores are: H&M, Zara, TjMaxx, Pretty Little Things, Asos and Nordstrom Rack. You shouldn’t spend a lot of money on “in trend” pieces because they change often - instead invest in staple pieces from higher ends that will last you season to season. I am guilty of buying a lot of trend clothes and end up having to give a lot of unworn or barely worn clothes away. This is where “Morgan’s Closet” came from :) Get A Great Power-suit - try other colors I love a great two piece suit. It is such a boss babe look! This does not mean you have to stick to black, grey or blue suits - try pastels, neons and jewel tone suits. Asos and Pretty Little Things often have great two piece suit sets ranging in sizes from regular to curvy. They have great stretch, washable and super affordable! Shop Offseason for Designer I LOVE shopping designer pieces around holidays and after seasons. Why, because that is when you can buy staple pieces for a very low cost. Various designers like Saint Laurent & Valentino often have great classic bags that go on sale around that time for 50-75% the original price. Yes, it's a gamble to wait to shop for bags you love, but if you are risk taker - go for it. Use Cash Back Rewards I utilize a site called Ebates, it has hundreds of your favorite online and in store retailers with cash back ranging from 2%-15% cash-back. The service is completely free, all you have to do is click on the website you want to shop at though Ebates and that's it - you get a check in the mail every 3-4 months. To learn more and to start making money use my link to sign up here. Happy Shopping :) Let me know what you get! Do you Sleep Pretty?
Ladies, ladies I am LOVING this satin sleep set by Kitsch I’m a bit of a wild sleeper so sometimes my satin scarf or bonnet falls off during the night. Sleeping on a satin pillowcase still protects my hair from getting frizzy and protects my edges :) Also, did you know sleeping on a satin pillowcase is great for your skin as well :) The Satin Sleep Set includes: -Satin Sleep Scarf -Satin Pillowcase -Satin Sleep Mask -Satin Scrunchie Of course I got mine in pink but they have other colors and prints. This sleep set is a DEAL as well, it was only $60!! It’s also at a super affordable price and great for traveling! I look forward using my satin sleep mask next time I travel internationally. Until then, I’m pretending I’m in the South of France lounging in my hotel room. Who sleeps in a satin scarf or wants to try a satin sleep set? Do you like Bloody Mary's? Give it a try!
It’s Fri-yay! Let’s face it, we had a long week not knowing what day is. I’ve missed happy hour with friends, so I decided to pick me up a few ingredients to my favorite cocktail, a Bloody Mary. Now, I know some folks may not like them, but have we really given the Bloody Mary a chance? It’s the perfect drink anytime of the day, I literally ask for a Bloody Mary at both morning and evening events. Plus, it has tomato juice in it, which has vitamin C - did you know that? Every now and then I #treatmyself Here is the recipe to my favorite drink (and it’s super easy!) * 1 part vodka of your choice, I made this with Titos Vodka * 4 parts Bloody Mary mix, my favorite is Zing Zang Mix *Ice cubes *Squeeze of fresh lime *Optional: I like adding celery seed, black pepper, green olives and a pickle :) You can also jazz up your bloody mary with cheese, meats and really anything you want. I love going to a bar or restaurant who has a bloody mary bar where you can make your own. It's like a drink and meal all in one! Remember, we may be quarantined but drink safely and only if you are 21 and older. Since we all are spending more time at home, this is a great chance to get some self-care and beauty routines in place. Time is always something we say we need more time of and now we have it. Try one or all of these suggestions:
1. DIY Mask For glowing skin mix together 2 tablespoons of yogurt and 2 tablespoons of lemon. Do a patch of skin to test, make sure you are not sensitive to break out. Let the mask sit on your face for 5 minutes and rinse. Continue with your normal daily skin routine. If you are doing face masques I would not over do them. Try it once a week. 2. Plan it out Utilize this time to plan out some healthier meal options to keep your mind, body and soul healthy. Use free platforms such as Pinterest to search for meals no matter your dietary restrictions. Whether you are keto, vegan, vegetarian, low carb, high carb - whatever it is, they have a ton of meal ideas and recipes that you can simplely pin and plan your meals for the week! 3. Get Moving Gyms are closed but don’t let that keep you from executing your health goals. There are a ton of online platforms with workouts to keep you accountable. Curvy Cardio has a great at home program that has daily challenges, meal ideas, live workouts and more in a private support group for only $15 a month! Interested in joining? Email curvycardio@gmail.com to participate all in the comfort of your own home! 4. Stock up on Vitamins I’ve started incorporating taking apple cider vinegar gummies from a brand called Goli three times a day. These replace taking ACV shots that honestly, I could not stand the taste or ‘burning’ feeling when ingested. These gummies have also helped with my digestion, my energy level and immune system. They are vegan and 100% organic. If you want to try them visit www.goli.com and use my code ‘miss_morgan86’ for a special discount! 5. Online Shopping I know a lot of us do this anyway, but take advantage of the deals and discounts retailers are rolling out right now due to a lot of stores closing temporarily. On top of saving, you can also earn money back. You heard me right, you can get cash back on your online purchases. I utilize a site called Ebates, it has hundreds of you favorite online and in store retailers with cash back ranging from 2%-15% cash-back. The service is completely free, all you have to do is click on the website you want to shop at though Ebates and thats it - you get a check in the mail every 3-4 months. Beauty/Lifestyle Brands interested in being featured please email morgan@morganaowens.com On February 19th, I had the amazing opportunity to partner with Saks Fifth Avenue in my hometown of Cincinnati Ohio and kick off their “Uncommon” Beauty Week. When you hear the word “uncommon” primarily in the past it has been associated in a negative tone, but I’ve learned over the years being “uncommon” is truly an amazing thing to be. If you know my story, you know it took me a long time to find my inner beauty so when the opportunity came to share my sparkle with Saks, I was ecstatic!
I have practically grown up at Saks Fifth Avenue, I remember going with my mother at a very early age. Admiring all the chic, classic and timeless clothing, beautifully crafted shoes, amazing aroma of perfumes and amazing handbags (my favorite). Who would have thought 20-something years later, I would be featured at this same store with my book, “Finding My Sparkle.” If you have never stepped foot into the Saks Fifth Avenue downtown, I encourage you to go in, talk with the associates and check out a few of my latest favorite things such as: 1. Rose Prick by Tom Ford This is a bit of a splurge, but oh so worth it (at least get a sample). Described as, “Sharp and pristine, the piercing prickles of the stems hook onto each other, bonding their blooms in pink perfection.” Personally, I love the rose fragrance that pulls through on my skin. Being a woman on the go, I found this fragrance keeps up with me throughout the day and a little goes a long way. 2. Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Paint-On Liquid Lip Color You all know I LIVE for a great lippie. Try this liquid matte line it “saturates lips with a matte finish.” It comes in an array of colors but my personal favorite is, rebellious rose. I would make sure your lips are well moisturized before you apply any matte lipstick. Exfoliating the lips as well, especially during the winter months is also a great idea so you don’t have any peeling. With liquid mattes, I also suggest you use a great lip pencil to line the lips first for a perfect application. 3. Kiehls Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydration Masque At the end of a busy work week, I enjoy nothing more than some self-care. This includes 5 minute soothing hydration masque from Kiehls. This gel masque helps to “soothe and visibly reduce signs of distress such as dry and unbalanced skin by achieving a hydrated, healthy looking complexion.” This is the perfect “reset” from a hectic and busy week! This is great for all skin types. Beauty/Lifestyle Brands interested in being featured please email morgan@morganaowens.com For as long as I can remember I have been obsessed with all thing’s beauty, fashion and lifestyle. I blame my mother. I grew up being the only girl and watching my mother in awe when she got dressed to attend a function or a meeting. She had a full walk in closet with amazing shoes, dresses and my personal favorite, handbags. My mother is beautiful without material things, but these just enhanced her style - I envied it.
My grandma (my mom’s mother), the only grandmother I’ve known, Pauline was a beautician - it definitely must run in my blood! I remember my grandmother had vintage jewelry and beautiful fur stoles/coats. As a little girl I would play in her jewelry, hats and anything I could get my hands on. If you know my story you know I struggled with my self-esteem, I never thought I would be as glamorous and gorgeous as my mother. I played in her shoes, her jewelry, her make-up and perfume, I couldn’t wait until I could have all these wonderful things. Now that I know my self-worth is not tied into my looks; I can appreciate beauty and fashion as “add on’s” to my beauty and not substitutions. My mission has been to help Women and young girls find their sparkle, now I’m making one of my biggest goals come to life. Being able to write about all thing’s beauty, fashion and lifestyle to share my favorite tips and tricks. Just remember, you make the products glamorous - not the other way around.
