Get Ready With Me: Morning Routine

You know your girl is always on the Go #MoOnTheGo. However, I always make sure I try to keep my morning routine no matter where in the world I may be. Forming good skin and body-care habits takes consistency. Even taking a week off of your normal routine can cause more harm than good. Many of your favorite brands make mini size products if you’re like me and only like to take a carry-on bag. TSA only allows you liquids under a certain amount (depending what country you are in). Make sure you check online and in your local beauty stores to find some of your favorite brands in mini size. Here is my 3-step skin and body care morning routine:

  1. After bathing, use skin therapy oil by Palmers to put moisture back into your skin. I like to do this even when I’m not fully dry and my skin is still a little damp. The skin therapy oil literally absorbs so well into my skin.

  1. After skin therapy oil, apply heals and soften by Palmers to the body. That’s right slab a good amount of the cocoa butter lotion over the skin therapy oil to really lock in that moisture and watch how soft your skin gets. I also love to do this right after I shave my legs, it makes my legs super silky and smooth.

  1. Don’t forget your face. If you already have a morning skincare routine, add in the rose skin therapy for your face. I like to drop a dot or two into my face moisturizer to give your complexion a radiant glow. Whether you are rocking a fresh face or underneath your foundation.

Mo On The Go: Junto Hotel

​The Junto Hotel is located in the heart of Downtown Columbus, putting you close to many attractions, restaurants, and entertainment options.
 
A little backstory on the hotel, per their website:
“In 1727, Benjamin Franklin — you may have heard of him — founded a “club for mutual improvement,” which he styled The Junto. Ben’s club brought together people from diverse backgrounds to discuss issues and ideas of the time.
 
The Junto hotel is a modern-day embodiment of this idea. With an emphasis on public gathering spaces, our hotel gives visitors, locals, entrepreneurs, and artists alike a place to come together, exchange ideas, and inspire one another.”
 
You can definably feel this with the open layout in the lobby. You will see hotel guest but also members of the community dropping in to work, eat and network in the lobby.
 
I was so impressed with the different amenities, such as their own “Gear Garage” where you could rent everything from bikes to games, while staying at the hotel. How convenient and thoughtful is that??
 
Let’s get into the room, however. My room was quite spacious, with an amazing bathroom (you know I love a good bathroom) - but what was the cherry on top was the private rooftop terrace my room came with! It was so big I could have hosted 8-10 people out in the terrace with me.
 
They have a few food/beverage options for everyone to enjoy. I loved that they had a super cute full-service coffee shop in the lobby, Maudine’s. They had the most insta-worthy coffees and baked goods. It helped that they tasted great as well.
 
The history of the name and mascot of Maudine’s - also has a cute story (I won’t ruin it for you) I hope you go explore and learn it for yourself.
 
They have a restaurant, on the lobby level as well, Little West Tavern.
The food was simply, amazing. You can see from my pictures below that it not only looks good, but it tasted even better.
 
I also had to check out the rooftop bar, brass eye- which served crafted cocktails as well as small bites. The rooftop was a vibe. This would be the perfect place to take yourself for a cocktail or even take your boo for a romantic and cozy date night.
 
If you find yourself in Columbia, I 100% recommend trying out the Junto hotel. Another perk is it is right across the street from the COSI museum, and they give you a free pass to go explore that as well.

5 Ways to Battle Jetlag

If you follow me on social media (if you aren’t then please do :) Then you know I am always on the GO. You can find me in another time zone quite frequently, and I always get asked about how I adjust when I come back home. Here are 5 ways to battle jet lag:
  • Adjust Your Sleep Schedule Before Traveling: Gradually shift your sleep schedule a few days before your trip to align with the time zone of your destination. This can help your body adapt more smoothly to the new time zone when you arrive.

  • Stay Hydrated: Dehydration can exacerbate feelings of fatigue and jet lag. Drink plenty of water before, during, and after your flight. Avoid excessive caffeine and alcohol, as they can contribute to dehydration.

  • Get Sunlight Exposure: Natural sunlight is a powerful regulator of your body's internal clock. Spend time outdoors in natural light, especially in the morning, upon arrival at your destination. This helps reset your circadian rhythm.

  • Take Short Naps: If you arrive at your destination and it's not yet time to sleep, take short naps to combat fatigue. Keep them under 20-30 minutes to avoid entering deep sleep, which can make you groggy.

  • Adjust Quickly to Local Time: Upon arrival, try to adapt to the local time as soon as possible. Resist the urge to take a long nap if it's not bedtime at your destination. Engage in activities, eat meals, and go to bed based on the local time to help your body adjust.
