I was able to participate in The Wellness Experience by Kroger this past weekend. It was truly amazing! I was super excited to be working with Palmer’s in the Beauty Cafe talking about investing in yourself. Can we normalize talking about the “C” word? Yes, Credit! Storytime: Growing up, I never really listened to my parents about credit or even learned about it in school. How important credit is, how it can affect your life’s goals, wants and needs. In College I ran my credit to the ground, stores were handing out store cards like candy and the next thing I knew I was over 20,000 in debt as a college graduate! There was no way I was going to dig myself out of that hole. I made a vow to pay off all this debt by my 27th birthday, and I did. This made me very self-aware and dedicated to never putting myself in a bad credit position again.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. When I became an entrepreneur, there were tough times when I had to lean on my credit cards to purchase products, pay bills and really survive off credit. Statistically minority entrepreneurs don’t get the same access to loans and business funding, so my personal credit was affected. Now that the world is changing and uncertain, I seek out companies like Lexington Law to help me build and maintain my credit so I can be a thriving entrepreneur, who doesn’t have to worry about applying for a loan in the future without fear of being denied due to my credit.

Even now, shopping is my kryptonite. It’s a part of my lifestyle but also my business, which I blog about. Money Manager – This is a budgeting tool that allows you to link your accounts with the app/website and set financial goals (paying off debts, saving accounts, etc.).

Credit Reports – You have access to your credit reports 24/7 and can download them at any time under the “Credit Reports” tab in the menu. This tab will also break down ALL the accounts on your credit report and show you positive and negative history on your accounts.

Inquiry Assist – Due to our agreement with the credit bureaus, CreditRepair.Com is unable to personally dispute inquiries on your report. The way we have gotten around this is with our Inquiry Assist tool on. Under Inquiry Assist, you are able to download pre-written letters by our attorneys that dispute the inquiry on your credit report. All you have to do is print, sign and mail the letter out. The letter will have the address for the creditor and the bureau on there.

24/7 Credit Monitoring - This is a big one for credit repair! Any changes that happen on your credit report or social security number, we will notify you and ensure these changes were made by you. If not, we will get in touch with the creditors for clarification and to make sure you are not to be held liable for the changes. This doesn't always happen but it's important that someone's got your back!

I encourage everyone reading this to check out Lexington Law, they have different levels of services that fit everyone’s budget but ultimately, building healthy credit knowledge is priceless.
